Subject:Xuande Mark on Bronze Vase?
Posted By: rat Tue, May 31, 2011 actually no, thank goodness, this is not a xuande mark but something entirely different. i don't know much about recent bronzes but this strikes me as japanese rather than chinese, 19th century? am sure you will get more knowledgable comments. |

Posted By: June Michel Tue, May 31, 2011 Yes, just discovered a faint "Japan" mark on the bottom. Thanks for your response. :) Would really love to know more about this piece. |

Posted By: Bill H. Tue, May 31, 2011 The mark contains a seal-writing character or characters between a pair of stylized dragons. I can't read the mark, though the vase appears to be a Japanese product with champleve enamel decoration that was popular toward the end of the Meiji era, or circa the late 19th-early 20th C. |
