Subject:Qing dynasty kangxi period possibly please help?
Posted By: Travis Sun, Jun 19, 2011 IP: 24.21.67.25 We found this at a garage sale and there just happened to be a guy from Texas their who could read the characters on the bottom. He told us it was Qing dynasty and Kangxi period. The man who wrapped it for us dropped the lid and broke it, that is why you dont see it in the pictures. If anyone can help me determine if its really a 300 year old artifact or tell me what the four characters mean or have any tips on getting the lid fixed that would be much appreciated, It would be the coolest piece we have ever came across and we would be beside ourselves if it was actually an artifact, thanks and have a good day to all |

Posted By: PyroManiac Sun, Jun 19, 2011 Unfortunately it is not. It is very common for Chinese potters to mark their wares as a tribute to earlier times when the wares from this period was considered the best. The jar actually is about 60-100 years old. |

Posted By: PyroManiac Thu, Jun 23, 2011 I cannot really recommend a value. If you sell on eBay just sell it under the Chinese antique category. Sell it as a famille rose ginger jar around 50-100 years old. The buyers will decide for themselves. |
