I have a teaset composed of a teapot, cream, sugar, 6 saucers, 3 cups and 3-9" plates. The only items marked are the 3 plates. the mark orangey red and has 6 characters. Nothing else is marked. On the back of each 9" plates is a paper price: NR 187 Famille Noire $170.00. Is that a good price to ask? Are the rest of the items reproductions?

Need photo of tea set and six figure mark. Not being marked Kangxi period, does not mean they are fakes. Modern expert opinion holds that porcelain decorated with famille noire enamels were not made at all during the Kangxi period. In the late 19th century black ground, thousand flowers porcelain wares, Qing dynasty, were made with six figure marks. Without photos hard to say, but unmarked does not mean fakes. Thousand flowers, black ground, Qing dynasty copy of Kangxi period famille noire, is over 100 years old, your price seems fair.

Well I got my answer. Someone has posted a plates for $950.00. I will keep a close watch on this sale.

The asking price on famille noire plates can go from $100.00 each to $5,000.00 each depending on dealers. Without photos the $170 price on each plate seemed retail to me. Asking thousands of dollars does look good on their listings, and if it sells, bravo!
