Hello, Can anyone translate these Asian characters for me? They are located on the back of a silk scroll. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

this is the equivalent of a painting's titleslip, except in this case your reproduction is made from synthetic fiber. the images is of a painting in the National Palace Museum, Taiwan by Song artist Su Hanchen showing two children playing with a balancing toy atop a lacquered/inlaid table that stands before a tall garden rock. an image of the original picture:

The upper bold characters read down in Mandarin pinyin transcription as the title 'Qiu Ting Ying Xi Tu' (Picture of Playing Children in a Courtyard during the Autumn). Some of the small characters beneath are not very readable to me, though the stack on the left side is the name of the seller.

What you apparently have is a copy of one of two famous paintings that are unsigned but generally ascribed to the Northern Song painter Su Hanchen (active circa 1130-60). The titles of both seem to get shortened simply to 'Children Playing', though the other is of children playing in the wintertime. Both originals are in the National Palace Museum in Taipei,

Below is a relevant trilingual link to the Chinese wikipedia.org.

Best regards,

Bill H.
