Subject:jade figurines of soldiers

I came across these jade figurines of soldiers. Can anyone identify them, as to origin, year, and price? Are they jade? Made in China or Southeast Asia?
Thank you

From what I can see, those are made from Bowenite, not Jade. Most likely done in China within the last 20 years.

It's difficult to say where the figures were made, but the bearded man with arm outstretched in a revolutionary salute in one picture looks a bit like Ho Chi Minh. The material doesn't look very much like either of the true jades, nephrite or jadeite, in my opinion.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Look typical of postures 1960s-1970s, China.

Could be made there. Could be made then or later (same spirit still exists in some quarters).

Can not tell from pictures alone what made of, you need scratch test and specific gravity measurement to tell if nephrite, serpentine, other stone or even glass.

Price would depend on material, size and whether buyer was collector of material in spirit of Mao Zedong or Cultural Revolution. Few would find the pieces' artistic qualities of interest.

Good luck,
Cal

The right idea by all, it is Bowenite!
