Subject:trinket box

this is my favorite (and hardest to photo) of the pieces I have posted. The pictures do not do it justice. it is probably 6" by 4". The box has lions and some type of antelope or gazell in various scenes. it may be silver, it has some brown (petina?) in places. The underlay of the etching is a beautiful red that glistens in the right light. i cant belive i have been walking past it all these years and never recognized how beautiful it is until i decided to investigate some of our household things. Again any info of orgins value or anything is greatly appreciated. All of my google and e-bay searches have turned up nothing really similar to the things i have posted and yall seem to be my best bet!

Do you have a reason for posting a query about this box to an Asian-arts forum?

The lions are clearly depicted as the sub-Saharan African type (there never were lions in China but they have been commonly depicted in quite stylized form), but this does not mean the box was made in Africa, either.

Good luck,
Cal
