Subject:Help ID odd bronze figurine?

This figurine was recently purchased in Korea, although it does not look Korean. On the bottom are apparently Asian characters, although also not Korean and not obviously Chinese or Japanese. The small teapot also has characters on it, but unclear if it was cast that way.
The piece is about (w)3" x (h)2.5" x (d) 1.5", with smooth spots suitable for rubbing (although the patina is not worn off).
Any thoughts on origin, use, identity, age, or anything else would be warmly and gratefully welcomed.
