Subject:Help IDing a picture

I have this oriental looking picture that appears quite old. I have tried to find info online of the company that framed it, Cowman's in Dallas TX but have come up with nothing! The red matboard appears to be a fabric so I would assume it has or had some value. I have included a link to a set of pics of it that show more detail. Thank you!!

Judging by telephone number was framed in 1940s, so at least that old. Is print instead of painting? Can tell by look with magnifying glass for array of dots.

Since it was not double-matted it was not expensively framed.

In either case it will be destroyed by acidity of backing and mat; can conserve by removing from present framing, have redone using current acid-free materials. While out of frame can see if damaged around sides, if part of picture covered up (though it could have been part of a set or larger picture), if there is inscription saying publisher.

Good luck,
Cal

I pulled it out of the frame, I don't see any sort of signatures. There is some gold leafing on it and the paper has a newspaper like texture but is thicker. I unfortunately know nothing about telling anything about artwork (as if you couldn't tell).

i think this is a print of a Ming era painting, though it also resembles works from a well known earlier set of lohan paintings dating from the Song dynasty, most of which are in Japan, with a few in Boston and a few more in Washington DC. the descending figure and the way the air/space is treated suggests to me that it's not Song but Ming, but on the basis of these photos I doubt it's an original work of art but as Cal suggests, a print. can you take better detailed photos?
