Subject:Translation of writing on bottom of vase
Posted By: MJT Tue, Sep 13, 2011 IP: 71.74.228.246

We have what I would call an oriental vase (kind of looks like an Aladdins lamp) that has writing on the bottom - all in Chinese/Japanese. I have no idea. This piece belonged to a great aunt of mine who insisted it was of value. I am trying to get a decent photo of the piece so I can post it to see if anyone knows about it. But in the meantime can anyone tell me what it says on the bottom? I am attaching a photo which I know is somewhat out of focus but hope someone can help me. Thank you so much.

It says made by Shimamura. Very little known about them because nobody ever shows anything but the bottom of their wares...well almost.

looks like a Japanese maker's mark: Shiamura I think. pictures of the object itself will help determine whether it's genuine or of value.
