Posted By: Bill H Mon, Sep 26, 2011 When the center photo is flipped right 90 degrees, the incised character resembles 'Jade' (Yu). Whether I'm correct or not depends on whether the small gouge to the right of the stained portion is part of the mark or later damage. If it is the latter case, then sans the gouge the character resembles 'Wang', a surname. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Sep 27, 2011 The crackle seems to fit the general description of ge wares, but the foot shows a neat pattern of spur marks that isn't consistent with what I recall seeing. However, having never owned or seriously studied any Ge or related Guan wares, I would defer to others for substantive opinions here. |

Posted By: phil Tue, Oct 11, 2011 This is a Ge - type dish from the mid Qing dynasty, late 18thC, possibly early 19thC. You should find that the stilt marks, imitating Song dynasty Ge wares have been painted on. Similar pieces have been dated to Qianlong & Jiaqing. |
