yes, your friend is right, except that "Wei" is his given name whereas "Wenhua" is a nickname. Here's a bio:

郁文华 名炜,字文华。
Yu Wenhua, given name Wei, nickname Wenhua.

1921年生于苏州。
Born in Suzhou in 1921

早年曾先后师从蔡铣、张石园学习国画,1948年有缘结识张大千,逐为大千收列门墙,入大风堂为弟子。
In his early years studied with a succession of teachers, learing traditional painting from Cai Shen(?) and Zhang Shiyuan, and in 1948 ... becoming a student of Zhang Daqian.

郁文华山水、花鸟兼长。
Yu Wenhua is good at both landscapes and birds/flowers.

山水宗宋元,也得明贤各家之法。
His landscapes follow Song and Yuan styles, in any artist's style

花鸟得明清遗规,善写牡丹,有“郁牡丹”之誉。
In birds and flowers follows Ming and Qing styles, he's especially good at peonies

作品曾展出于法国、日本、美国、韩国及香港地区。
Works exhibited in France, Japan, US, South Korea, Hong Kong

1988年应邀赴新加坡举办个展,2001年于上海朵云轩举办个展。
In 1988 he had a one man show in Singapore, in 2001 a one man show at Shanghai's Duoyunxuan.

1998年上海书画出版社出版《郁文华画集》,2006年上海书画出版社出版《郁文华山水册页精选》。

现为上海中国画院画师、上海美术家协会会员、上海文史馆馆员、上海大风堂书画研究会会长。
Currently teaching at the China Painting Academy in Shanghai, and has various other posts and memberships.
