Hello, I've acquired a painting and I would like to know some information about it like date, artist, and what it says. Any information would be much appreciated, Thank you in advance.

a very recent chinese picture, no commercial value. the inscription gives a cyclical date corresponding to summer of 1987 and every 60 years before that, and is supposedly signed by Shitao. Shitao was an early Qing (1644-1911) painter. however he neither painted in this style nor had handwriting anything like that shown here. the blue and green color scheme here recalls a Tang era (618-907)genre that was revived a bit in the northern Song (960-1127). the two scholarly guys in the foreground recall Yuan era works that were rarely in blue and green, rather monochrome ink on paper. the dense parallel folds in the mountains that look like pieces of toast stacked one behind another as you rise up and back are similar to some Ming (1368-1644) landscapes in their mannered quality. the paper looks dyed to appear old, as decent paper wouldn't brown like this (although silk does after a long time). in sum, a pastiche of different styles for decorative purposes. hopefully this is helpfully informative rather than rudely disappointing.
