Posted By: Jay Leong Thu, Oct 13, 2011 IP: 175.156.194.7

Dear All,

Appreciate you can help me. I bought this vase many years ago from an antique shop but this is not for sale item originally. The marking is very rare.

Please advise is this really Hong Xian period and what is it value?

Many Thanks in advance. Jay

Has been decades debate whether any Yuan Shikai wares marked with 'Hong Xian' nianhao. Some say this mark guarantee not genuine. Big auction houses sell some with this mark as genuine.

I think obvious added-color on footrim tells problem.

Best idea submit in person to expert in one of the famous auction houses.

Good luck,
Cal

Dear Cai,

Thanks for ur info, greatly appreciated.

This vase was with the antique shop for more than 20+ years before I bought them. The owner told me this is a very rare one due to the black colour iused for the painting and Hong Xian period Is very short time frame and reluctant to sell after much persuasion.

Do you know any auction house in Singapore I can approach.?

Best regards,
Jay
