Second stone carving same west coast seller, both items have phoenix etched into them. Same question, stone type?

Those are softer stones, not Jade. Serpentine also comes in many colors, and a scratch test, correctly done, will tell you if it is a soft or hard stone.

Ok, I will try scratch test, got this one from same person who claimed the items were calsified from being in a tomb. I have seen calsified and unless this is cleaned calsified??? I heard stories of putting carved stones into dead animals and burying them for a while to give them the antique look. All these stones today came from same calif coastal town. Both vessels have the phoenix etched and same style, like a vanity set?

Hardstone, stone does not scratch, but the stained parts will scratch. How do you get that stuff off?

The yellow and brown do come off, this triangle stone is white? Doesn't scratch with sandpaper either.

Cleaned this one last night and it looked good, got up this morning and it is all back again? Done playing with these two, have no clue how to get the calcium deposits off? Same artist, same etchings.

Got me a bigger knife and really tried hard to scratch. Going back and forth gouging the indide of the lid. The first photo is what I got. Licked my thumb and wiped the scratch and it went away, no scratch Ernest? Need a carbide stone chisel to scratch this rock!!
