Subject:Guangxu Large Dragon Plate
Posted By: D.A. Zander Mon, Nov 07, 2011 IP: 24.107.124.236

Hello. Please find below the write up we have for a Guangxu M&P Plate, as well as the pictures.

We have had some concern as of late by an Asian Expert, and just wish to get a second opinion regarding this rare item.

We beleive this to be Mark and Period.
Any thoughts on this object would help.

Guangxu Dragon Dish.Blue & White Dragon Dish with three (four claw) dragons.

Below inside of the rim is a blue hexagon border. Reverse side has stylized blue clouds and waves. This rare "Guanguyao" dish was probably made at the Imperial factory, to the order of the wealthy Chinese aristocracy. Dish is illustrated and discussed, Fig 11(b) in "Allen's introduction to Later Chinese Porcelain" -
published in 1996 size: 10+ inches diameter.

Provenance: Purchased from Anthony Allen collection -

Hello,

I have no reason to doubt the piece is from Guangxu period. So mark and period Guangxu but it isn't imperial otherwise it certainly had 5 claws.

Regards,

Arjan

Mr. Zander,

Your plate is Mark and of Period. But it is not
imperial, and is not that expensize. Enjoy it as a decorative plate.
