Subject:Jade vase
Posted By: Patrick Norton Mon, Dec 05, 2011 IP: 99.184.49.248 Got this jade vase on eBay and the seller claimed it was in her fathers collection for 40 years? It came today and looks as if it was made yesterday and not even sure it is stone at all. Like the agate snuff bottles I got from China I am thinking this is a new glass fake. Hoping Ernest can tell me what this one is?

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Mon, Dec 05, 2011 I would like to see more pictures...it could be Jade, please do a scratch test..2-3 mm with a strong pin, until you see a tiny white or white line. This definitely a modern piece. Be careful with that "soil" which I see inside..wash your hands when you touch that !!

Posted By: Patrick Norton Thu, Dec 15, 2011 Agate would be alright for me. I like it; puts a new color into my collection. Got a rose quartz carving this week, but it is so big it will not fit in my china hutch.
