Subject:AUTHENTICATE CHINESE JADE PIECES
Posted By: Lily Flowers Thu, Dec 29, 2011 IP: 71.225.169.205 Hi, I am wondering if anyone here can help me find a knowledgeable person to authenticate a collection of Chinese Jades that came out of China into Laos and Cambodia from families that fled the Revolution. I took one piece to an auction house not far from where I live and the 'expert' looked at the piece of white Jade and told me it was soapstone and a fake. He looked a moments glance and moved on to the next person in the long line of people holding their artifacts of what ever it was they were holding. Does anyone know if Sothebys and Christies have genuine experts in the field of Jades? People say they are experts...but...!!! I understand that the market has been flooded with fakes. My pieces come out of private hands from those people that held them over many years. I understand that an illustrious curator of Beijing Museum has been involved with fraud and I don't know where to begin with selling my pieces. I am willing to travel with a piece to someone who can prove that they understand what they are looking at...to get help to market the pieces. Please, if anyone has any ideas on this forum. |

Subject:AUTHENTICATE CHINESE JADE PIECES
Posted By: Lilly Flowers Mon, Jan 02, 2012 Hi, the pictures I can post are not worth the post as they will not show you clearly enough the details...If any of them are fakes, they are of such quality that only a true expert in this field can make it by finding a small slip. Some of my pieces have traceable history. A few are questionable. I have been scouring the internet to find a reputable specialist in Asian Jades. That person is not easy to find. Does anyone know about an author of a book series named Gu Fang? It is one thing to write about 'known' pieces but another matter to be able to recognize an artful reproduction against the real item when the history is in the shadow. thanks for any help here...! Happy New Year to All. |
