Subject:Information on Chinese platter
Posted By: Ursula Sat, Mar 10, 2012 IP: 207.112.126.63

I am hoping someone can provide some information on a platter I received from my late grandmother. It was purchased from a unknown shop in London around 1950. I haven't seen any Chinese stoneware with this much orange which has me doubting its authenticity.

The platter measures 18" across and weighs over 5 pounds. I've been able to determine that the decorations are of the Eight Immortals but that is all. Could anyone shed any light on possible age, the style of decoration, etc. Really anything would be appreciated.

Japanese. And I think there are only the seven lucky gods, not the eight immortals.
