Subject:Chinese Tea Cups
Posted By: Scott Wed, Mar 28, 2012 IP: 66.68.61.104

Hello. I was curious as to the identity and value of two matching Chinese tea cups I acquired through a family inheritance. The description of the pieces is as follows:

Pair of white tea cups. Most likely T'ng / Tang.

Size: Roughly 2.5 inches in height.

See nothing indicate Chinese.

Are porcelain? Translucent? Handle broken on one?

These forms not made as Ding ware, which could be what family note try to say.

Good luck,
Cal

Hi Cal -

The cups have been appraised before as Chinese, but you're right they don't have markings underneath them.

Also, the half-circle handle on one cup was done purposefully. It is not broken.

Thanks for responding! Anyone else know anything about these?

Scott

the cups vaguely resemble some Tang era forms, but as Cal suggests these are quite recently made I'd think
