Subject:Antique Ginger Jar Table Lamp
Posted By: Stacey Ollis Sun, Apr 01, 2012 IP: 65.8.101.89 I recently acquired a beautifully hand-painted Chinese Porcelain Ginger Jar Table Lamp with exquisite paintings of black bird and flowers in front and Chinese writing on back. Bottom has hand-carved dark wood, possibly rosewood or ebony, and topped with lovely Asian-style finial. Perhaps Qing Dynasty? Meaning of the art work or writing? I read on-line that these were often decorated to reflect happiness or prosperity and given a ceremonial gifts such as wedding. Also, any ideas on possible value? |

Posted By: rat Mon, Apr 02, 2012 looks like your inscription includes a date, can you post larger and more complete photos? seems like a decent Republic era vessel, not particularly valuable (having been drilled for a lamp) |
