Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Tue, May 22, 2012 From all indications it seems to be made from Serpentine, which is closer to Nephrite, rather than Jadeite.It is a very modern carving. With a strong needle, make a 2-3 mm scratch in an inconspicuous spot, and tell us if it is a white or black line.

Posted By: Ernest Wilhelm Sun, May 27, 2012 In this case the white line means that it is Serpentine, which is softer than Nephrite or Jadeite.As I said before, this was made within the last 8 years.
