Not sure I understand the question. What do you want identified? They are snuff bottles. The quality is poor. There is no carving - just scratching a design in the surface. I can't tell from the pix if they are ivory. I don't see any Schreger lines. What is the material?

Cheers,
Stan

Well aren't snuff bottles with sexual etchings rarer. I believe they are bone

Erotica as an art form depends largely on the subtlety of the artist and his presentation of the subject matter. Whoever produced these stillborn stabs at snuff bottles didn't know his smut from Shinola. The figures depicted in their prurient tableaux seem to have been inspired by graffiti on the toilet wall at some home for wayward boys. They possess no visible redeeming artistic, social, historical or intrinsic value. Sometimes another man's trash is simply that: TRASH! You did well to wear rubber gloves when handling them.

I suppose they could be. I looked through my 2 books on snuff bottle collecting and erotic snuff bottles are not mentioned. My preference is for something with better workmanship made out of stone (jade, rose quartz, amethyst, etc.) I do have my eye on a carved glass one with 4 layers that, if I have the money the next time I'm in the shop, I may buy.

The link below leads to several snuff bottle discussions of some of my snuff bottles and others.

Cheers,
Stan

They are not etchings. Just poor scratchings with some colorant added, on poor simulations of snuff bottles. They were probably made to sell the cheap drawings.

Some things are rarely seen on the market due to lack of market value.

Good luck,
Cal
