Subject:Is this from the Wanli Period?
Posted By: Jack Fri, Jul 06, 2012 IP: 88.104.233.150

Hi,

I bought this beautiful saucer dish a while back, and I'm not really sure whether it is from the Wanli Period or not? I've looked at lots of Wanli marks and it does look like it is to me, but I'm no expert and I might be missing something that shows that it is/isn't.

I also have a pair of vases which have a Kangxi mark on the bottom, but again, I'm not really sure if it's faked or not.

I have attached a link below for the pictures, sorry for the terrible quality, they were taken on a phone! The Kangxi? mark doesn't look as bold as that in life, and also the picture is pretty blurry.

Thanks for any help,
Jack.

Sorry, don't think the link worked, here's some pictures.

Just had another look at the picture of the mark on the vase, don't know if it's any use, because it's really blurry and bold.

I'm just a beginner, but I have some experience with Wanli. That doesn't look Wanli to me - the white glaze seems the wrong colour and texture, the foot is not the right shape, there is no orange "glow" to the unglazed foot, and the dragon and phoenix look really odd.

Maybe this is 19th century...?
