Subject:Re: Painting
Posted By: Bill H Wed, Aug 01, 2012 The lefthand stack begins with a cyclical date that appears to read 'Summer of the Gui Wei year', wuich most recently came around in 1943 and 2003, as well as at earlier 60-year intervals. The following three characters in that stack seem to be 'Ku' (Bitter), 'Yu' (or possibly 'Yun' - Rain or Cloud) and at least one other one about which I'm unsure. The larger of the red seals looks to read from the right in Mandarin as 'Ku' (Bitter) 'Shi' (Market). Perhaps someone else will be able to pick it up from here and grade my homework. |

Posted By: rat Wed, Aug 01, 2012 Chinese, cyclical date corresponds to 2003, by a painter calling himself "Bitter Rain", title/subject seems to be a revered art teacher. |
