Subject:Jade ceremonial mace or ruyi scepter
Posted By: Patrick Norton Thu, Oct 11, 2012 IP: 99.184.55.121

Listed these on eBat at Hollywood price but no one looking. Some kind of a ceremonial mace or ruyi scepter. Rock shop gem tested them and tester needle went in the middle of emerald. Looking for prominence, origin. First, what are these carved stones?

Couple more photos; got new photo software and still not very good with it. Prefered the old ones style.

Those two creamy/white pieces are not Jade!

Our little town rock shop gemstone tester put the needle in the middle of the emerald. Not sure what the stone is but its a hardstone. Hardness is up in a variety of the mineral beryl, way above quartz. More interested in "what they are" from a historical point then the gemstone categorization.

Stone is not really white, just real big, here is a closeup of a close colour of the stone. Hard to photograph this rock, the peach is more a light brown? Still that gemstone tester needle went right up real fast. Not white more muttonfat.

different close-ups are required from the smaller item.

Same item Ernest, that was a closeup, they are large. Over 12" long, 2" thick, 3" across lotus flower. Hoping my hollywood price holds up, getting bunches of watchers? Have not even found out if they are scepters, maces, chui weapons and not even sure they are Chinese with the chrysanthemum in the middle. Japanese, Egyption, still have no clue.

Ernest, not a white stone, more dirty greese color, greyish, yellowish, but photograph white and peach. Great home defence item, flower pedals are like little knives.

Looks like a peachy brown rust to me, changes under different lights; old stones Ernest, not even polished. One seems older then the other and has ware around the grip. Not even sure if they are Asian?

Actually could be mercury and cinnabar? Some Buddha ritual or something. Looks more like mineral they dyed. Whatever it is; its ugly under sodium halogen black light. Happy Halloween everyone.

Getting all kinds of hateful feedbacks from US Asian art experts in my email. I can not even find another example of this type of scepter and yet a portion of experts claim they are copied from early examples. Think you need an example before it becomes a copy? Where are these examples, in mythology? Good photos of these stones is almost impossible, they reflect light.
