Subject:Picture to go with tiger/feather painting
Posted By: Noel Sun, Dec 02, 2012 IP: 66.229.156.181

Posted a question but picture didn't make it. I would like information about pictures made with weathers and bone material as this one is . Also would like to know what the inscription says.

you are in luck, it is dated to spring of what looks like 1972, the title basically just refers to the scene of pine and tiger, but if this is from 1972 (not sure what else it could be read as) it's in pristine condition. not sure there's much of a market for this sort of thing though.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, it is in very good shape. I was told a long time ago that the writing refers to strength, beauty and power but I think there's more to it. As the picture was brought back fron Hong Kong in the early 50's I think we need more information on its dating.

if the picture was brought back from Hong Kong in the 1950s it would date instead from 1912, which is from everything I can see out of the question, so some additional work in its date is definitely in order!

the strength and power aspects of the title relate to the symbolism of the tiger (surprise) and pine
