Subject:Coffee Cup millefiori on gold --probably contemporary
Posted By: E.A. Booze Sat, Jan 26, 2013 IP: 24.19.51.89 Please forgive me if this is not anything of any value. But I have been searching to see whether this large coffee cup is Japanese, or Chinese and who made it and when. If is porcelain and the bottom is a very thin procelian that lets light through. From what I have learned in my internet searches is that the Chinese made coffee cups but the Japanese tended to stick to making tea cups. It is marked. I think that the marking are Chinese but can't seem to find any characters that match. The cup is 4.5" tall and the millefiori work is raised and I think is is enamal paint. |

Posted By: Guy Mon, Jan 28, 2013 The mark reads 'Kutani' - so it must be Japanese ware with millefiori decoration. |
