Subject:Help identifying origin and markings of vase

Hi, I came across this vase and was wondering if someone can help identify the origin of the vase and help to distinguish the markings on the bottom.

The photo shows the markings 90-degrees to the left of proper reading position. When righted, the first (righthand) stack says "Kutani", the geographic area where the vase was made. I can't make sense of the second stack, as the artist's attempt to be cute with the character flourishes has been successful beyond my ability to read them. The vase probably dates to the 2nd quarter of the 20th century.
