Subject:Can you help me translate the signature on this painted snuff bottle?
Posted By: Chris Tue, Feb 12, 2013 IP: 72.197.230.67

Hi - I recently picked up this reverse glass painted snuff bottle. While I am fond of and have collected some Asian art, I do not collect these per say, and know little about them. But for whatever reason, I was drawn to this. Furthermore, it was inexpensive, as it was damaged.

Can the astute members here tell me what the inscription says?

Would you consider this to be a quality painting, or not, and why?

Thank you for helping deepen my appreciation of this.

Looks it is painted by someone with the given name or nickname of Changqing, in the winter of the cyclical year equivalent to 1994. the scene is entitled "the four seasons". the drawing is quite precise, which surprises me a bit.

Hi rat,

Thank you for the information. IMO it does seem the artist cared about capturing the essence of his(?) subject, a quality I usually associate with an artist who is vested in his art (as opposed to something produced entirely for commercial consumption).

I've included a couple additional photos below.
