Hello All! Can anyone identify this hand painted 10" dia Chinese kuang xi serving platter? Any idea as to age? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! David.

This kind of dragon & phoenix with shuangxi character is one of the most ubiquitous patterns ever made in China. Such dishes are made for restaurant or home use in wedding feasts.

The pattern seems to have been in more or less continuous production either on the Mainland, in Taiwan or possibly elsewhere in the same basic design and coral palette since the early 20th century.

Your tray probably is relatively new if the brassy looking gold is any indication. Here's a photo of a couple of ginger jars with some other coral wares of mine. The jars had tags in them that probably dated to the 1950's or 60's.
