Posted By: Bill H Thu, Apr 25, 2013 The mark reads down from the top right in two stacks as 'Zhu Ren Tang Zhi' (Made for the Hall where Benevolence Resides). This was the name of the presidential palace of Yuan Shikai, who had been named first President of the Chinese Republic in 1913 and later became the non-dynastic Emperor Hongxian, who died after a short rule in 1915-16. |

Posted By: Phillip Fri, Apr 26, 2013 Bill thanks for the information the history i have is that it was given to me from a relative who got it from China in the late 60's. it would be great to know what the calligraphy has to say as it covers the whole vase. here is another photo with a third red marking shown. |
