Subject:Is it an incense burner or something else?
Posted By: Ken Sat, Apr 27, 2013 IP: 24.130.59.236 I have a bronze incense burner type of item with three dolphin shaped feet. It is 23” tall including the lid and is about 12” in diameter. It weighs about 15 lb. I was told by the seller that it is from the 1850-1899 era. I have included several pictures. In each of the circular pieces there are some characters inscribed on it. You may be able to see the characters in the 3rd image below. Chinese people were not able to read them. They say this item is probably not Chinese. I am wondering about its origin and the purpose of this item. Can anyone comment on what it is, what its age might be, and what its value might be? |

Posted By: Bill H Mon, Apr 29, 2013 I'm not Chinese but also think this censer isn't from China. With the dolphin feet, I'd think Mediterranean areas such as Italy or Greece, or perhaps one of the Islamic nations in North Africa or the Middle East. |
