Subject:Do I have a nanban or Nanbanbijutsu?
Posted By: miamibeachcg Thu, May 16, 2013 IP: 98.254.224.26

I have what I believe is a nanban - or a nanbanbiju. It looks like it was drawn, then painted - the paint has little granules in it that cause the paint to change it's shade or hue when light hits it; kust like the original nanbans with crushed ores mixed in the paint.
It is a almost an exact copy of a nanban in the Nagasaki? museum I saw online before - except the horse in the bottom left is facing the opposite way (maybe as the artist's way of showing it was his?).
I sent photos to Christies - and they asked for additional photos 2 more times before saying they thought it was a copy circa 1960's because of the faux bamboo crame & foamboard backing.
To me the drawn faces & hands look real under a loop and the paint is real - is this a nanban or a nanbanbijutsu or just a good artist's piece?
I greatly appreciate any help or info on this; I've looked for nanbanbijutsu for sale to try to get an idea what it's worth, but there are none! I don't know what I have!
ps - HERE IS A LINK TO PHOTOBUCKET WHERE i MADE AN ALBUM WITH PHOTOS OF IT - Thank You!

Not sure why the photo was deleted - maybe I didn't put it up correctly, but I really need some help with what this is, possible age & anything else someone can help me understand what I have.
Thank you!
