Subject:Help ID this (chinese? ) this mark?
Posted By: Yolande Berkhoff Sun, May 19, 2013 IP: 87.195.243.122

Hi everybody,

Does someone know this mark?
Or can translate it for me?

I would like to know where exactly it's from.

Thanks for your help

The two characters in the vertical stack read "toku-sei" (特製), meaning "special-made" or "deluxe", according to the online dictionary I consult. Gotheborg.com dates their "Nippon Tokusei" to before World War-II in the Showa period (1926-88).

Best regards,

Bill H.

Japanese, probably early Showa period (pre WWII).
A Rising Sun mark followed by 'Nippon' and 'Ji-sei'. Searched it further in Japanese but without result.

Guy.
