Subject:Help needed to identify Japanese metal vase

I purchased this tall metal vase from an antiques dealer who just called it a Japanese vase. It is not signed. Can anyone tell me about it? When it was made? Is it bronze or another kind of metal? It has an applied finish that is showing overall signs of wear.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Stylistically, the vase does appear to be Japanese, possibly of the late Art Nouveau period, circa 1900-1925 (late Meiji-Taisho era).
