Subject:Cloisonne Vase
Posted By: Kurt Karlsson Sun, Jun 23, 2013 IP: 99.242.105.87

Hello,
Could someone provide some information about this 8" cloisonne vase? It has CHINA stamped on the bottom and a strange build-up of light green colored corrosion all around the inside. The corrosion is very solid and impossible to get off, I tried vinegar, but to no avail. Any input will be helpful. Age, Value etc.

Thank You.

Your vase is an interesting Chinese export cloisonne vase dating pre 1940, probably closer to 1915-1920.
This is an innovative approach as far as design and motif application, as most Chinese cloisonne items of this period stayed with the traditional approach. Some collectors love these pieces, because they are 'one of a kind' at a time when cloisonne was still completely hand crafted. Value depends on how you sell it. It's not old enough to be an antique, it's not very large for a Chinese vase, and most buyers would rather have the traditional style.

Thank you for the information you provided. Since I only paid a couple of dollars for it, I would like to know what your opinion is, as of it's value. I am not trying to sell it, just curious.
