Subject:ID for old chinese pith paintings
Posted By: Carol Wooley Sun, Jun 30, 2013 IP: 66.214.96.214 I believe these are pith paintings, each is about 6" by 9" and all are signed. I am trying to find out more about them and possible translations of the writing. I can send more photos if needed. All of the paintings are mounted in one frame. |

Subject:ID for old chinese pith paintings
Posted By: rat Mon, Jul 01, 2013 these all seem to be dated 1986 and are not part of the group of mass made export scenes of Chinese life and fauna from the 19th century that are dubbed "pith" paintings. instead they show various popular figures from Chinese folklore/cultural history: a Tang poet, Zhongkui the ghost killer etc. |
