Subject:Need translation of red stamp on paiting
Posted By: Kevin Thu, Jul 18, 2013 IP: 67.91.221.93 I need to know the meaning of a red stamp located on a painting I have. I think it is of Chinese origin. |

Posted By: Bill H Fri, Jul 19, 2013 The seal reads down in Mandarin pinyin as "Wancui" (晚翠), an old Chinese term for plants that remain green until late in the year. I'd venture to guess it might be a naturally applicable idiom to describe an elderly person who retains a youthful appearance or outlook, but my Mathews dictionary doesn't mention anything to verify that assumption. |
