Subject:VERY old bonsai or censer pot tests positive for silver Please Help ID
Posted By: Jeanne Wed, Jul 31, 2013 IP: 75.84.55.131 Hello experts. I have this what seems to be a very very old Asian bonsai or censer pot with relief symbols that have worn down over the years and a white substance that I think is calcium deposits but I'm not certain. It does test positive for silver using 18k acid and a scratch plate, it's been tested many times and in may different areas. Its 4 1/2" by 3 1/4" and weights over 17 ounces. I cant see any makers marks or hallmarks but it could be under the thick patina. Can anyone please help me date and value it, my intent is to sell it. |

Posted By: Jeanne Sat, Aug 03, 2013 Did the Chinese use silver for ashtrays? Do you have any information, history or date for it? I really appreciate the help. |
