Posted By: Bill H Sat, Aug 17, 2013 The cross within a circle in red is from the Satsuma crest or "mon". The two characters in gilt on a gilt-lined black square read down as "Nikko" (日光 - literally "sunshine"), the name of the maker. Please see the link for further information. |

Posted By: Julia Simmons Mon, Aug 19, 2013 thank you so much!! what amazed me is the simple ivory color with the gold trim. I searched until my fingers were numb NEVER found anything like it. Oh there's a million things I'd like to ask you BUT you know I'm kind of obsessed with too many details so....this is a lovely set of bowls; large heavy plates and smaller plates. Oh I love life being a collector and finder IT IS SO MUCH FUN. thank you ummm couldn't resist: can you read the writing or stamp on this painted screen I found? or tell me where tables like that were made...it is a black lacquer low table. I'll understand that I'm asking too much if you don't answer. I have lots of unidentified things so... |
