Subject:Kutani mark?
Posted By: Lunarts Fri, Oct 18, 2013 IP: 89.99.75.240

Hello,
My question is about these two vases.
Is the mark a true Kutani mark?
I have been all over the internet but did not find a matching mark.
These pieses are in the family for a long time. I think it is from 1870+ but I am not an expert.
Thanks for your time and reply.

Combined with the good quality decoration, I'd say there's no doubt about the authenticity of this "Kutani Zo" (九谷造), "Made at Kutani" mark. You'll find the same one under "generic Marks" at the link below, which is a comprehensive membership site devoted to Kutani.

Best regards,

Bill H.

Hi,

It's Kutani indeed. The mark reads "Kutani tsukuru". (Kutani make). Dating: early 20th. ct. (imho).

Regards,

Arjan

Thanks for the replies, now I know more about these vases. I love the artwork on them, handcraft and beautiful decorations, the two vases are very different in mood and details but the look (at first eye) very simmilar but they are not.
Thanks again
