Hi!

I wonder if someone recognize this signature/seal?
I got the painting which depicts a raven, a tiger and a crane from my grandma and I guess it at least has some age because I remember it from when I was young and the paper show signs of aging.

The signature and seal read 'Koson' - the famous Japanese painter and printmaker Ohara Koson (1877-1945). Shoud be interesting if you post an image of the painting.

Thanks for the info. I actually found pretty extensive info when I realized that it was a Japanese painter and not a Chinese. It was actually the tiger that confused me. As you might understand I'm a layman in asian art but there was something about this painting (three prints) when I saw it that made me pick it when no one else in the family was interested.

Unfortunately it's been stored in a damp swedish attic for about 2 years and has taken a bit of a toll from that experience. But I think I will get the prints a new frame, the current one being in really rickety shape, and hang it on a wall with no direct sunlight.

Just a guess, but the calligraphy and seal may both read "Old and retired" (古卸 - Gu Xie), sorta like me. However, Gu also can be a surname. Any other takes on this out there?
