Subject:Blue and white plate
Posted By: A Sutton Sun, Nov 03, 2013 IP: 107.19.132.244 This plate is from a local collector who focused on antique Chinese ceramics. If anyone can assist in dating the plate and its mark, I'd genuinely appreciate it. |

Posted By: Bill H Tue, Nov 05, 2013 This appears to be a Japanese plate. It has an apocryphal Ming Chenghua reign mark on the back. Other cobalt-decorated dishes with similar brown "pie-crust" rims were made around the late 19th and into the 20th century by the Yamatoku kiln in Saga Prefecture, Japan. However, I don't recall ever seeing one with a Ming-style mark like this. |
