Subject:chinese scroll ink painting

hi
i have this chinese ink scroll painting , it looks like a zen painting
and i am not sure if it is chinese or japanese , it is signed and there is a seal mark on it , as you can see the outline of the painting is a bad condition but the painting itself is in a very good condition .
i will be happy if someone can tell me if it is japanese or chinese and who is the artist and the period.
