Subject:Please help identify ?

I was told at some point this was a Ming dynasty vase. I wanted to see if I could get an updated opinion about time period and maker. I took a photo of the markings on the bottom and wanted to know there interpretation. Its about 4 ft. high. Any help would be great.

this is Japanese, not Chinese (and therefore not Ming). the mark on the base seems to read that this vase is one of two and should be placed on the right.

Hi Paul,

Sorry, it isn't Ming and it isn't even Chinese.
Your vase is Japanese Satsuma-like waren made in Kyoto in the early 20th. century. Such characters were meant to fit pairs together. The upper character means right so this was the right vase of a pair.

Regards,

Arjan
