Subject:Republic Era Marked Short Squat Teapot - What is the shape called?
Posted By: Jeanne Mon, Jan 20, 2014 IP: 75.84.55.131 Hello experts, I bought three of these unusually shaped teapots at my local good will, I think they were all part of a collection, each are different yet the same shape, one is Kangxi marked. This one is Republic era marked. It seems too small for a teapot, after searching through hundreds of pot shapes I can't find a similar one. Can anyone please give me some information on it? |

Posted By: mikeoz Tue, Jan 21, 2014 The pot shown is more likely a wine pot. The base reads JingDe Old Kiln. I suggest these are much later than Republic, far more likely People's Republic. |

Posted By: Jeanne Wed, Jan 22, 2014 Thank you so much Mike. I also thought it was a wine pot but I can't seem to find any similar. I was hoping there was a specific shape name for it so I can search it. |
