Subject:Japanese silk painting, very old - what is it?
Posted By: Trent Tue, Mar 11, 2014 IP: 108.235.48.211

This could be anything - I know where it came from, long story but the guy had many high quality items, they sold them via normal outlets, then discovered some more items and just didn't care by that point... I got it, had it for years, always wondered what it is.

This is a silk (or cloth?) item, it is very, very old - I'd say older than the frame which is old. I am unsure if it is a print of some sort or painting.

I'd be very grateful to know what this is.

sorry, not very old, not very good quality, but the inscription is illegible in your photos

I know it is 'old' - no, not 500 years old, or anything exotic, but 100 wouldn't surprise me. More than 200 years would. It's pre WW2.

It's been re framed - frame isn't as old, but 'old' still.

I've attached a better picture of the description.
