Subject:Brass Vases

Hello,
I am wondering if anyone recognizes this or can help me identify it. It was given to me by my 90 year old mother, and she said it came from her grandfather - that would make it around late 1800's . Apparently he was a merchant marine, and brought it back from China or India on one of his trips. There are mo markings at all on the bottom ; the inside is very rough cast. It is heavy .
It is 4" tall and weighs 8 oz.
