Subject:Hong Kong money exchange

I have sale slips from 1972 Purchases in Hong Kong. I'm trying to find out what the American dollar value of those purchases would be. One was for HK 400 and the other was HK 650. Any idea of what that would be in 1972 american dollars?

There is an online tool called "Google". If you put "1972 hong kong to US dollar conversion" into Google, the second item listed takes you to the Hong Kong Dollar Wikipedia page with your answer.

Cheers,
Stan

When in 1972? See: http://www.hkma.gov.hk/media/eng/publication-and-research/background-briefs/hkmalin/04.pdf

For the inflation adjusted price, use:

The date on the slip is July 22, 1972. The sales price was 650 and the total with freight, case and loading was 1022. Might this be in dollars? The total says $1022. The dollar sign has four or five slashes through it.

This is the price for a large Chinese feather painting. "Rat" you made comments on the feather painting a while back when I posted questions about it.

When I left Hong Kong in 1974 the exchange rate was 5 HK dollars for one US dollar, then slowly dropping to around 7.8 to 1. Therefore dividing the HK dollars by 5 on your 1972 sales receipt will be pretty close
