Subject:Beautiful painted vase -- need help with identification...Japanese/Chinese? Artist?
Posted By: Todd Wed, Apr 23, 2014 IP: 64.131.41.123

Hello,

I recently acquired the vase below, and I'm hoping one of you lovely experts can shed some light as to it's origins. Does anyone know if this signature is Chinese or Japanese? Or who the artist might be?

The vase is bisque-fired, white clay (as far as I can tell), and hand-painted blue-glaze bamboo trees with small red-glaze flowers at the bottom.
It stands approx 13.5" tall, and narrows near the middle.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance :)

Definitely Japanese, but I don't know if it is new or contract.

Thanks Samuel, much appreciated! Do you have any idea who the artist is, or what the writing might say?

I declared on my first post that my focus is Blue and White Ming and some Ching Dynasties Porcelain. Unfortunately I know nothing about Japanese porcelain. I am American: Chinese Indonesian decent, Tan is and was my last name and Hadinata is Sanskrit (Old Indonesian), not Japanese.
I am sure the vase is NOT Chinese, to be honest, I think it is new. Sorry.
